Victoria Flyers
Welcome to
Victoria Flyers in Victoria, the crossroads of south Texas!
Safe Flying requires good initial pilot training but just as important is keeping your skills sharp which requires frequent use of those skills. Two hours of flying monthly is considered a bare minimum for a private pilot to remain current and confident. In reality that sometimes doesn't happen due to today's busy lifestyles so if you've been away from flying for a few months or a few years we can get the rust brushed off and you back in the swing of things!
Biennial Flight Reviews
Recurrent training and more...
Even though your pilot's license may legally allow you
to fly a certain airplane, it's very unwise to just jump in and go
with no previous experience in that type. Generally no two airplanes
of even the same type are exactly alike and unfamiliarity with things like
radios, accessories etc can cause distractions during flight
and compromise safety. At the very minimum it requires a thorough reading
of the pilot's operating handbook and for most pilots a good "check
out" with an instructor. Our instructors have a wide range of experience
in most general aviation aircraft and whether it's one of our rental
planes or your own new purchase, we'll have you confident and safe
in your new ride!
Transition/Type-Specific Training
Hi-Performance and Complex Aircraft
Piloting an aircraft of over 200 HP or one with a retractable
landing gear requires additional training with an instructor
in such an aircraft and a logbook entry. We have a high-performance/complex
aircraft available and can prepare you for your transition to
the fast lane!
The FAA requires that every pilot, no matter how many ratings or how much experience they have, complete a biennial flight review every 24 months. You must receive at least one hour of instruction in the airplane and one hour of ground instruction on basic knowledge and Federal Air Regulations. We believe a flight review is most beneficial if it's tailored to the type of flying that you actually do. First we'll discuss your previous experience and the type of flying you currently do or would like to do plus any skills that you're not quite comfortable with. We'll then concentrate on those areas and you'll leave feeling confident and safe!
Pilot Ground School
We conduct periodic Pilot
Ground Schools aimed at the new student pilot. If you're an inactive
pilot and have been away from flying for a long period, you also may
want to consider attending one of our Schools. We'll refresh
you on the basics and bring you up to date on things like airspace,
temporary flight restrictions and modern avionics
plus other things
that may have changed. It all enhances the fun of flying by making
you a much safer and confident pilot. Call us for class scheduling
information.
